i am very happy and excited to present the new ep by claudia anderson on singular rec., its her second release on the label and its a real pleasure. she cooked a really varied record once again, liquid forms takes place on a1 and its real voodoo here, the effect of this track is very unique, it’s space and deep, surrounded by many little effects that give such a special result, then comes neutral state, a timeless dub & house feeling, very loopy, that reminded me some stl cuts. be one opens the b… i ve been really sensible to its very sexy percussions play and delayed lead, it transports literally during all the length, its very high quality. to end properly this ep, claudia did a superb ambient cut, everybody knows i love ambient and so here i ve been charmed… its a deep, noisy atmospheric track that close the all perfectly, with simple little percussions that come and go, just what it takes… its a confirmation of all the good i thought about claudias talent, a very subtle, deep and charming record, and i hope you will like it as much as i do! marcelus.

the maghreban is new to house music, and doesnt really listen to house music, which isnt necessarily a bad thing. he has worked extensively in other genres under other names. looking at house from these sideways perspectives perhaps gives him an interesting angle on it. this second release sees the maghreban expand his sonic palette somewhat, taking in some african sounds but also continuing along the vintage theme of his first 12 inch. radio play from benji b (bbcr1), thristian (nts), support from ben ufo (rinse/hessle), brian not brian (going good/kristina records), gatto fritto (international feel), sasa (in flagranti, nts), leri ahel (mutant disco).

to keep people guessing, the fifth instalment from australia s best selling people must jam label takes things in a house direction with andy ash at the controls. andy has put through an immense ep of varying house flavours to satisfy an all tastes. the ep kicks of with the monster disco vibed hurricane fantasy track. a beautiful summery looper that s sure to keep the floors burning hot! move is one of andy s straight up house cuts - which he is becoming well known for, a deep sounding organ line carrying the track forward with stabs and a nice little vocal sample to boot. mixing things up a little on the flip, our good friend - ron basejam has provided a sublime adriatic excursion remix of move . ron takes the track to a totally different place with uplifting piano lines and orchestral string stabs building to a lovely crescendo. this remix should be earmarked for croatia 2015. finally dommah takes the ep into almost techno territory with building pads and solid beats resulting in a monster track for when the strobelight pulses and the heads go down!

wd37 broadway kiss showcases the hair-split-contrast in our disco genre. 4 songs so good, they all deserve equal attention, pontchartrain delivers, lifesaver, an immaculate distillation of house and disco fused, buffed and polished. on the inside, osmose has bottled pure disco fire with broadway kiss, a perfect party starter for any warehouse with disco leanings.
flipping to the aa, seasoned jock, derek kaye has reworked holding on and in the process landed it (and a few others!) in greg wilsons top edits of 2014 chart. by now, you must know that we are very fond of a bit of cheese in our whiskey… rulefinn sidesteps the usual elements of la biondas i got your number to focus on the slick guitar, while retaining the vocals until the end for optimal impact.
after listening to this ep, you will feel like you have been kissed all over.

initially alfonso muskedunder was just the nickname for my newborn son alf, but the character soon started leading it s own life. interpreted for this single by a bunch of good people, such as deetron (jazzy-ish housey-ish), bullion (main vocal funky latin house mix... or not. it s vocal though), mungolian jetset (acid mambo deep in the forest, quattro formaggio pizza style) and the mysterious tangoterje (dub mambo especial), the icing on the cake finally came in the form of a fully animated music video courtesy of bendik kaltenborn and espen friberg. kind of tricky to explain exactly what goes on in that one, guess you have to see for yourself...

4th and final part of this legendary morris audio compilation series bringing some new (origins sound, manooz) and old faces (volta cab, julien sandre), but keeping the house vibe in different shades. up and coming origins sound (glasgow underground, lost) present a bassy pumping uk house tune whereas volta cab (kolour, hypercolour) goes back the the rave days and invites us to some hardcore heaven. the flipside starts with morris audio buddy julien sandre, who is still some kind of secret underground weapon, even if he already released on argys these days label or on tsuba. finishing off the ep is manooz (alive, extended play) with a great deep and raw house tune. this all is for you, seven daze a week!

nebraska is someone who’s tracks we’ve been loving for a good few years now and finally managed to pin him down for a release here on delusions of grandeur. the uk producer is something of an enigma, and despite some amazing releases on rush hour still remains resolutely underground and seems to keep his releases to a minimum, focusing on keeping the quality high rather than flooding the market with average material. once again, he brings the real deal with three drum-heavy warehouse jams to nice-up the dancefloor. aw-right (mute version) sets the tone with a raw house groove that keeps things stripped to the bare minimum. a bouncing bassline and rattling percussion break help to define the track but it’s the dusty, dubby approach to the mix which really makes the track shine. next up we have warp and weft, a similar sounding track but by dropping the bpm’s nebraska has created a sublime low-slung, bumpy groove to really move to. flipping over we’re treated to the brilliant eighty eights which will have you nodding your head like the churchill’s dog before you can say ‘looped up piano and bass one bar groove repeated for over eight and a half minutes shouldn’t work should it?’

oh yeah, we love those tunes, we love the idea of this west (mexico) to east (lithuania) studio exchange, we love the jam style, we love the instant lets record it and put it on wax feel! so we dont want to blow this up. no big pr stories, just good music made by ponty mython (dirt crew, swedish brandy, eat more house) and sebastien vorhaus (quintessentials, faces records, vicario musique). buy it, play it, feel it! thanks!

number three in prins thomas rett if fletta excursion welcomes our good friends from full pupp trulz & robin with change, a 10 minute deep techno buildup piece in a somewhat classic, almost trentemolleresque, soundscape + tradition. minimalistic but huge in a motoric wall of sound style long not heard. large! dunjon sets the counterpoint on b, bassdridden, sparse, bubbling sturdy grooving techno is dub comes back to the richer atmosphere of change for another hallcinating deep and dubby piece.

two thrilling tracks and a bonus cd mixtape are three good reasons not to sleep on this.

vinyl only! dragosh delivers with impact his track brinit . set on a traveling percussion loop, playfully adventurous and filled with an ever growing energy. a warm melodic female vocal in contrast to a technical voice cut draws the listener in to feel the energy with no chance to get tired. rhadoo and cezar take the voice out and put it into a new context. with their focus firmly on the groove, and adding some extra synths they create with finesse, a proper trip... reducing the vocals into whistles and layering a rather mysterious noise, they masterfully turn this remix into something totally hypnotizing...damn good too

james freud is not the deceased singer of the australian new wave band the models. james freud is not a young art-school dropout with an affinity for electronic music. james freud does not live in berlin - he seems to come out of the blue and it is hard to say whether his production is analogue or digital, whether it is sampled material or sound design. because of the strange maturity of his work the tracks seem to come from both the past and the future. thanks to the digging-qualities of dj good news (who runs the hamburg poem-label) a selection of james freuds oeuvre is now brought to light through the 12inch 5-track extended play - to cut a long story short: mental futurism is wise optimism.
